Blog Reflection

4) Early in the semester, I learmed the importance of camera work and how to effectivly use the Over The Shoulder skill. you can see in this film, I didnt do this, especially since we didnt have the scene for a reaction shot and we didnt realize it till  afetr we and finished shooting the film. On my second project i learned how to make a good script and havit convey the message im trying to make. A scene that shows this well in the film called "Honesty" is when Alex looks nervous and looks like hes really making a hard decision uoi can tell by the way he pants and wiped his forehead as if he is wiping away sweat. Later in the year I really showed that I really had learned that conceot well, since I showed this in other projects. One good example is from "Murder In SBHS" in the scene when Alex is yelling at Eddie B. about how he is a CIA investigator and such. Also when Eddie B.'s lines asre alyas an anchor of reality and how he says "this is stupid" or "of course" it really showed that we were able to plan out the sript whether is not written down on paper or not.

5) I beleive I learned the how much work it takes to make a movie or short film. There is no way to demonstrate this bcause it more of an internal feeling of accompishment than it is if it was some assignment or grade. Now when ever I watch movie I can see the editing points and the special effect and have a rough idea how the accopmlished it. I really see it when movies have over the shoulder scenes becauseIi know that they have to film each side of the conversation before they hack it up and make it look good.
6) This experiance was very benificcal and Im glad I took this class. My fellow class mates made it really worth while for em bcasue of the things they were able to accomplish or the things they've said.

Final Video

This video was thought up by Mr. Alex Torres and egged on by all three of the remaining members about 2 classes ago. There is no solid script. Jake and Krystian pretty much just argued and confirmed lines at the filming of. Jake was the dead guy and the camera guy for the autopsy part. Alex was the phenomenal cop, his acting skill are great and should be an actor. Eddie was the anchor of reality for the film and kind of a comic relief. Krystian was the bad guy and mortician and filmed other scenes. We had a great time filming and editing. We hope the audience enjoys our film we think it’s our best one yet!!!

Jabberwock Project

The special effect that we used the best was the directional blur. This really worked becasue it doesnt give a clear preception of what the picture actually is. The mood we were trying to communicate was intimidation or fear. The stanza that we got had alot of beware's and seemed that it was trying to intimidate the hero and most of all the audience. The idea that we were trying to show was that all the imaginary animals were to be feared and shouldnt be thought if as nice or cute.

Thinking about Our Final Values Video.

Positive Comments
The music was perfect beacause it made it more like a mysterious effect. Sabrena, Ashley P, Eddie E.
We especially like medium shot that showed all of the students in trouble. .
It was used to emphasize the idea that they were all nervous. It worked because it set the mood
Jacob D and Morgan D
We liked the begining when the camera slowly showed all the students sitting on the table in the detention room.
We also liked the part when the teacher was talking and he had the low angle shot looking up as if we were in the students eyes.
We thought that your film was well put together
Michelle Hernandez and Blanca Ceja
Suggestions
We think you should have a shot of Krystian cheating. It will emphasize that krystian did cheat.
you should make an opening title Sabrena, Ashley P, Eddie E.
Start out in a classroom and have the teacher ask some to stay back.
You could also give more dialoge between the characters. Jacob D and Morgan D
They could have added a scene where they walk in to detention
we suggest to slow down the credits a lot Isaiah S and Cesar J
More dialoge between Krystian and Alex

Zoie having some more part in then just passing the note. Michelle Hernandez and Blanca Ceja

This post is from _Krystian___ and ___Jake_______.
The positive comments that were most meaningful to us were from ___Michelle____ and ___Eddie E.___. The two best suggestions we got were from __Jacob D.___ and __Isaiah__ (again, two suggestions from different posts, a pair saying one thing).

___Jacob__ suggested that we _add more dialogue__. We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to __add more dialogue__.

__Isaiah___ suggested that we _slow down the credits__. We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to ___slow down the credits__.

really rough draft

We were trying to represent Honesty in our video because the hero was being honest when he told the teacher about cheating on the test.
One thing we did well in our video were the the sounds and following the script. I felt that the actors did a good job trying to reperesnt what the character was feeling.
We need to comlete a few things actually. First we need to shoot the parts with the teacher in it. Then we have to redo a point of veiw shot becasue i accidentally hit the tripod so the camera shook alot.
The thing that we need the most feed back on is the sounds we put in and if we need to add any more music any where.
One challange we faced was trying to do the film right the first time around and being prepared. We weremt able to shoot for a while because i kept for getting to bring my dress clothes since im the teacher in our film. When we finally were to shoot for the first time we shot it in the cooking room so the sounds were echoing and the sound quality was bad. when my group and i were reveiwing it we realized how bad it was and that we absoulutly need to redo our film. Then it took us a while to find a place tooshoot at but we finally settled on the library but we would change the teaches dialouge to say that it was in detention or something. But we unable to get the shots with the teacher because yet again i dint have my stuff. When we realized on that we werent able to shoot next class we decided on just putting in still titles that would say the we were miss the shots with the teacher. Basically this is a really really rough draft of our video.

OTS Project

Well my group really didn't plan out the script we just pooled all of our ideas and just chose my emotionless idea. I had to explain to my group alot about how this could be emotionless but still work.

Yes because when you have to put both the back of someone's head and the speakers head on the camera it kind of just aligns to the rule of thirds all by itself

The OTS creates the characters initial impression of friendship it a serious conversation because it just shows two people talking instead of a whole group.

The dialogue was pretty realistic because of the way we were apathetic about the news and the lines we were given. The only challenge we faced was editing one part where it showed I was chewing gum also in the bloopers we had to edit out the bad word and it was hard to catch the exact beggining and the end of a single word.

The mood that we were going for was apathy because it was a conversation between two teenagers and the fact that we had no emeotion about a very exciting piece of news made it a little funny. Also getting the reaction shot proved difficult since we were going for apathy. We. Accomplished the mood of apathy by using the looks of boredom we normally have in classes and using them for this video.

Personally I like using the over the shoulders shot because it can be used for so much more than just dialog between two people. If done right it could be used be used for a casual conversation between a large group of friends r used to view a landscape over the shoulder of a character to yive the feeling that audience is there wih the character instead of using a POV shot.

Many of my ideas were emphasized through this activity because I could use this shot for a fighting scene between two people or a shot of a person's experiance with a situation it to see what the character is working on.
